What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative medicine (sometimes called integrated medicine, though integrative medicine is the more commonly used term) is an approach to healthcare that combines conventional, evidence-based medical treatments with complementary therapies that have scientific support, while focusing on the whole person—not just the disease.

The goal is to improve overall health by addressing:

  • Physical health (medical treatment, nutrition, exercise/training)
  • Mental health (stress management, counseling)
  • Emotional well-being
  • Social and, when important to the patient, spiritual well-being

When appropriately used, integrative medicine may help:

  • Reduce chronic pain
  • Improve sleep
  • Healthy weight management
  • Perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms
  • Improve gut health & treat GI disorders
  • Lower stress and anxiety
  • Manage side effects of medical treatments
  • Improve quality of life
  • Encourage healthy lifestyle habits
  • Improve sports performance & training

Meet Ally Norton, PA-C

Ally is a certified Physician Assistant and founder of @pulse.whole.health (located in PA) who brings an integrative, root-cause approach to wellness and aesthetic medicine. A 2021 graduate of the University of Florida, Ally spent four years practicing in urgent care, where she saw firsthand how conventional medicine often manages symptoms without addressing what’s actually driving them. That experience inspired her to pursue advanced training in integrative and functional medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).
At Drip Wellness, Ally focuses on helping patients look and feel their best from the inside out; including hormone optimization, medical weight management, IV nutrient therapy, and personalized wellness plans. She takes the time to understand each patient’s full picture, using comprehensive lab work and individualized treatment to help restore energy, balance, and confidence.
Ally believes the best results come from treating the whole person, not just the symptom, and is passionate about partnering with patients on every step of their wellness journey.

What Can I Expect At My First Integrative Health Session?

Are you tired of being told “It’s just something you’ll have to live with”?  Or how about “Everything’s normal” when you know, deep down, that something isn’t right?  Looking for better answers?

For many of our clients, this is their first experience with Integrative Medicine and are curious about the steps taken at their initial visit.  Integrative medicine at Drip Wellness By Sub-Zero doesn’t signify a rejection of Western medicine; instead, it embodies a deeper dive into identifying root causes of health issues. We employ safe and effective modern medical practices alongside holistic approaches to deliver real, sustainable solutions. This dual expertise sets us apart from other practices, allowing us to offer a balanced and comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.

Below are the steps you can take to your whole self wellness at Drip By Sub-Zero.

1. Schedule Your Complimentary Consultation

Schedule a complimentary 15-minute introductory phone consultation to meet our team, ask questions, and learn how our personalized approach can help you. If you're ready to begin your wellness journey, simply schedule online for a Integrative Medicine Initial Consult or give us a call at (908) 777-5960. 2. Your Integrative Medicine Consultation (Telehealth or In-Person)

This service is for patients who are looking to heal a chronic condition (ie. diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, gut issues etc.). Integrative care blends conventional medicine with functional medicine to find the root cause of the condition and a treatment plan centered around natural solutions. We dive into lifestyle, habits, diet, exercise, environmental exposures, genetic predispositions, etc. to provide comprehensive patient-centered care.

3. Crafting Your Personal health Plan

Your second appointment typically takes place 4–8 weeks after your initial visit, once your lab results and assessments have been reviewed. This follow-up can be conducted in person or through a convenient telehealth appointment—whichever best fits your schedule. During this visit, we'll review your results in detail and develop a personalized wellness plan tailored to your unique health needs, goals, and lifestyle. When appropriate, we'll also connect you with trusted specialists, such as nutritionists, registered dietitians, fitness professionals, or other healthcare providers, to ensure you have the comprehensive support needed to achieve lasting success.

4. Ongoing Support & Guidance

At Drip Wellness, your care doesn't end after your initial treatment plan—it evolves with you. Stay connected with your health professional through our secure patient portal, where you can ask questions, receive guidance, and access important health information whenever you need it. We typically recommend follow-up appointments every two months, or more frequently if your health needs require it. If an unexpected concern arises, you can conveniently schedule an in-person or telehealth appointment to receive timely, personalized care.

Most Popular Questions

Traditional medicine often focuses on diagnosing and treating specific diseases or symptoms. Integrative medicine takes a more comprehensive approach by considering nutrition, lifestyle, hormone balance, gut health, stress, sleep, exercise, and preventive care alongside conventional medical treatments.

Integrative medicine may help manage a wide range of conditions, including digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances, chronic fatigue, autoimmune conditions, weight management challenges, anxiety, stress, insomnia, metabolic disorders, and chronic inflammation.

Treatment begins by identifying the underlying cause of digestive issues. Your provider may recommend comprehensive testing, dietary changes, targeted supplements, probiotics, stress management, and lifestyle modifications to restore a healthy gut microbiome and improve digestive function.

Hormone replacement therapy helps restore healthy hormone levels when they decline due to aging, menopause, or other medical conditions. Treatment is customized to each patient's unique hormone profile and symptoms.

HRT may benefit women experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Mood changes
  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • Brain fog
  • Low libido
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Vaginal dryness

Your provider will perform a comprehensive evaluation and laboratory testing before determining if HRT is appropriate.

Yes. Rather than focusing on quick fixes, integrative medicine addresses factors such as hormones, metabolism, nutrition, sleep, stress, gut health, and physical activity to support sustainable, long-term weight management.
